13 weeks

August 30, 2013
How far along? 13 weeks?! really??

Your baby is the size of a Peapod (source)

Total weight gain/loss: 1.5 lb gain

Maternity Clothes?  ooo ya

Stretch marks?  nope

Sleep?  Sleeping good. My muscles are so sore this week! I did take all three dogs out by myself the same day I had my first charley horse. OUCH! reminded me of high school basketball nights...lovely. I didn't work out while on vacation - but we did hike, walk and swim so I counted that as working out. However, This Just IN: My body is going to grow whether I work out or not. It's not like I'm on a diet and cI an keep from getting bigger. This is happening. It's going to add weight and if my muscles can't support the added weight I'll be miserable! Talk about motivation!

Best moment this week:  my husband. We were in a rush to get back from the honeymoon for a family party and we could hardly unpack and get organized before the week started. He knew a messy house would drive me crazy throughout the week, so he picked up and cleaned as much as he could. He did a lot for the marriage this week. He's a good guy. And I'm just the baby maker. lol

Miss Anything?  COFFEE

Movement:  none

Food cravings:  none but I'm HUNGRY

Anything making your queasy or sick?  nope

Have you started to show yet? oh ya! Haven't gained much weight, but it has definitely redistributed itself to my tummy area.

Symptoms: Sciatic pain, charley horses, heavy hooters. Nails and hair do look great though! Thanks predntal vitamins!

Gender:  unknown.

Labor signs:  none

Belly button in or out?  in

Wedding rings on or off?  on

Happy or Moody most of the time?  neutral. My best friend was in a car accident when we were on our honeymoon! She got a burn from the airbag and it hurts to move her entire right side! So scary and so sad! She's so miserable sitting at home, I wish I was there with her. I like sitting! We'd have a blast together...lol. It's easy to count your blessings at a time like that (YOU are one of my blessings Shae) but it's also easy to get to a sad place. The vacation was stressful towards the end so I did shed a fear tears due to hormones and stress. But I think I'm doing VERY good in not freaking out and not worrying about things.

Looking forward to: When I can stop saying "fine". We told the families we are expecting, I told my coworkers and now everyone is asking me "How are you?" "How do you feel?" It's hilarious because on Monday no one cared how I was. I told my coworkers on Wednesday so come Thursday everyone is stopping by my office asking how I am. Actually what is even more awkward is so happy people are for you to have sex. I mean that's what happened here right? So I just made an announcement to my boss and the people I work with, including deacons, priests and the BISHOP that I had sex. So weird. Trying to wrap my head around it. I know it's more about life and a new disciple of Christ. But it's still pretty funny. So I can't wait until someone stops by my office and asks how are you doing? and I can answer "Well, I'm having really bad Braxton Hicks contractions right now and I'm leaking a weird fluid out of my hoo-ha. Are you glad you asked?" *gasp! I would NEVER.

12 weeks - THREE MONTHS?!

August 26, 2013

Alexa, I did this in Cooper Black just for you ;)
I did not color coordinate these outfits, I guess you can tell how diverse my wardrobe is!
Side bar: all these photos online of these chicks with baby bellies....they have NO BUTT! My butt might end up bigger than my belly. I hope not- but the size of that bootay makes the belly look so small!

How far along? 12 weeks? I'm really bad at keeping track of this....I'm around 3 months, I know that.

Total weight gain/loss: 1.5 gain

Maternity Clothes?  I didn't have any until my Sister-in-law brought me her hand-me-downs. Now that I have a pair of elastic jeans I'm in love! They don't fit snug yet, but I can see the advantage. Buffet anyone?? I will say my yoga pants are too tight around the belly now. Very uncomfortable and depressing.

Stretch marks?  nope

Sleep?  Going good. We just got back from our honeymoon with hard beds, so adjusting to our soft bed makes sleeping much easier.

Best moment this week:  Telling HIS family. It was J's God-son's birthday party so the entire family was together. The kids were outside playing and all the adults were inside. I'm not joking - there was no adult supervision out there. Two of the kids are over 10, so that counts as supervision right? Anyways, J said "We have an announcement to make" and he held everyone's anxious attention as he said "Rachel's pregnant". Cue the screams and hugs and questions and stories. It was fun. Very overwhelming, as most things with his family are (there are just so many people!) but definitely a room full of love. Can't beat that.

Miss Anything?  caffeine. I need a vacation from my vacation and I didn't get one. Trying to catch up on sleep for now.

Movement:  none.

Your baby is the size of a lime

Food cravings:  Not really, the more I read the more I realize a healthy diet is a better craving than any piece of junk food. Most of the time I just crave food. I'm hungry all the time. This is my first week of weight gain.

Anything making your queasy or sick?  Nope and still no sickness. Thanks be to God!

Symptoms: Sciatic Nerve pain is back! Lovely...Also sneezing a lot, headaches and congestion. It might just be the change in environments from Jamaica to Dallas to West Texas.

Have you started to show yet? Hooters are falling out everywhere! And just this week I got a huge bump. I'm sure it's nothing compared to what is coming. But Hubby did good when I said "Look at this belly!" and he just smiled.

Gender:
  unknown.

Labor signs:  none

Belly button in or out?  in

Wedding rings on or off?  on - well I forgot to put them on, AGAIN.

Happy or Moody most of the time?  Happy. Not looking forward to it being out in the open with everyone asking me a million questions a day. Facebook official, workplace official, ayayaya (I already got a text from my in-law asking how I was feeling).

Looking forward to: Clearing out my closet of definite 'Not for 6+ months' clothes. It was getting too crowded in there anyways.

10 weeks

August 14, 2013

Your baby is the size of a kumquat (source)

Today was our first visit with the ultrasound technician.
He reminds me of Billy Crystal, who I LOVE, but he talks A LOT so the appointment takes forever.
We were there for 3 hours. Did not love that...

I met my doctor who was recommended to me by my high school friend, Meghan. She was living in Lubbock as a nurse while her husband opened some restaurants in town. She had her baby at the hospital I'm delivering at. But as soon as she had her baby they moved to Austin! I guess she was technically the first one to know - I texted her after my at-home-pregnancy-test and asked her who her OBGYN was. She told me and said "All the nurses go to him; and if a nurse goes to a doctor he MUST be good!" So I was very comfortable meeting our doctor. Turns out he is very laid back, like the nurse was. He is Catholic so that was a nice surprise!

Farmer J saw what happens during a pap smear. I'll never forget his face during that! Hilarious! I was like "yep, someone's going to do that to your daughter one day- get ready!" He's in denial, of course.

So our ultrasound technician was a chatty Cathy. He talked about farming, the economy, pretty much everything except the baby. Not really...he did talk about the baby. We got a DVD of the first ultrasound and we bring that DVD to each appointment for more and more video.

Embarrassing moment: Farmer J and I have failed at parenting already. We lost the DVD of our baby! We had family spend the night after we returned from Jamaica and between the unpacking and house cleaning the DVD is stashed away "somewhere safe" I'm sure.

I'll try to find the pictures and add them to this post before our next appointment. It's just a bunch of black and white photos - who cares right?? I'm sure some of you do, so I'll start looking!

Until then...

9 Weeks

How far along? 9 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: 3lb gain (total 2lb loss from pre-baby weight)

Your baby is the size of a grape (source)

Maternity Clothes?  nope

Stretch marks?  nope

Sleep?  I'm waking up every night to pee in the middle of the night. Last night I got into bed as soon as I got home and woke up at 3am. Got a full 8 hours by 3am! Of course I woke up to tinkle...and went right back to sleep. We went shopping this weekend to get "sleeping bras" which were basically nursing bras. They are more comfortable than regular bras, but too loose when sleeping in them. Might need to take them back for a smaller size. We also bought a 3" memory foam for the bed. The bed is so soft! It's amazing!! I love being in bed! But it is now 3" taller than before, so I have to jump to get in and out of it...that won't work 7 mths from now.

Best moment this week:  First doctor appointment. They weighed me, took blood work, told me the do's and don'ts. I've been googling way too much, so I put myself on a pretty strict diet. Not diet -  meal plan. My nurse was pretty laid back and only said no to sushi, swordfish, smoking and alcohol. She said I can half my caffeine intake. What?! I quit cold turkey!! She didn't seem to worried about lunch meat or soft cheeses. Oh well, I'm watching what I eat. Farmer J was at this appointment and he had a blast, asking all kinds of silly questions. He was super excited during the ultrasound. Nurse said baby was measuring 8 weeks (at 1.6 cm) not 9 weeks...so either it's a small baby or we miscalculated! Does anyone have a DVD or book recommendation for dads-to-be? I have a stack the size of my nightstand by my bed, but J is all alone taking whatever I say and going with it. ha! Who are we kidding, he's questioning everything I say...so a man to man book/DVD suggestion would be GREAT!

Miss Anything?  alcohol, I could really use a cold beverage on a nice patio.

Movement:  none. Well we saw the baby's heart beating really fast on the ultrasound..but I can't hear it or feel it.

Food cravings:  was craving Thai food the other day. I told J "we're going to have a sumo baby, I'm craving Asian food". Actually I'm having more aversions than cravings.

Anything making your queasy or sick?  random things that I liked the day before now sound disgusting. Eggs yesterday yum, eggs today gross! Haven't had any morning sickness!! *knock on wood

Symptoms: Still have that pain in my left hip, now it's going down my left leg. I'm seeing a chiropractor on Thursday so hopefully she'll get me aligned.

Have you started to show yet? Yea, mainly in the breasts and pooch. There was a skinny girl at the doctor's office, same due date as me who was showing a lot so I guess I'm headed in the right direction.

Gender:  unknown.

Labor signs:  none

Belly button in or out?  in

Wedding rings on or off?  on - well I forgot to put them on today :/ oops!

Happy or Moody most of the time?  Moody. I wish I could tell people and get it off my chest. But I want everything to be OK and I want to meet with the Doctor to get the 'OK'. Not looking forward to telling BFF, who's wedding is right around my due date, in another city. Yikes!

Looking forward to: Next doctor's appointment before our Honeymoon in Jamaica with the big reveal!
